A Calgary police officer has been charged with assault after an incident at a dog park.
Police said the incident happened on Nov. 30 at an Okotoks dog park.
Their two dogs were "involved in an altercation," police said, and as the owners tried to separate them, it's alleged the off-duty officer shoved the other dog's owner.
"After considerable analysis and given the circumstances around this member and the situation, the officer's name is not being publicly released," the Calgary Police Service said in an emailed release.
Police said the officer, who has been with CPS for 12 years, is not on active duty and has been on an unrelated leave since October. The officer reported the situation to CPS.
"As the incident occurred off-duty, any potential for internal discipline will depend on the outcome of the criminal case," police said.
