9 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Sunday - windsoriteDOTca News

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has confirmed 9 new cases of COVID-19 as of Sunday, bringing the local total to 1,665. They say 995 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 1,656 on Saturday July 4th to 1,665 on Sunday July 5th.

The Health Unit says 2 of the 9 cases are from the agri-farm sector, 4 cases are community based, and 3 cases are still being investigated.

There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Sunday and the local death toll stands at 68.

A third long-term care home is now under outbreak.  The Health Unit says Riverside Place at 3181 Meadowbrook Lane is now under outbreak after a staff member tested positive.  Devonshire Retirement Residence and Extendicare Tecumseh remain under outbreak.

One additional workplace is now under outbreak as of Sunday.  The Health Unit says a manufacturing facility in Leamington has been declared under outbreak.  Four additional agriculture workplaces remain under outbreak as of Sunday: two in Leamington and two in Kingsville.

A workplace outbreak is declared when two or more employees test positive for COVID-19 within a reasonable timeline to suspect transmission in the workplace, according to the Health Unit.
