Energy Minister Andrew Parsons says Pattern Energy’s proposed wind energy project for the Argentia area was not part of the recent Call for Bids for Crown lands set aside for wind and hydrogen development.
Four companies were selected from the applications received, to continue through the lengthy government process before development can occur.
Parsons says Pattern Energy’s plans in the Argentia area were not part of that process because it doesn’t involve Crown lands.
He told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that Pattern is moving forward through their own development planning process.
He says Pattern is able to move forward because they are not part of the Crown lands assessment process, but as they move into the second and third phases, the big issue will be what power requirements are necessary.
