Some Jif Peanut Butter products recalled
The Canadian division of Smucker Foods has issued a recall of certain Jif Peanut Butter products due to possible Salmonella contamination.
The recalled products have codes that range from 1274 425 to 2140 425 and include:
• Squeeze Creamy Peanut Butter 375 g, UPC: 0 51500 24556 9
• Creamy Peanut Butter 200 Cups, UPC: 0 51500 40200 9
• TO GO Creamy Peanut Butter 8 Individual Cups 250 g, UPC: 0 51500 75007 0
• Dark Roast Creamy Peanut Butter 500 g, UPC: 0 51500 45163 2
• Dark Roast Creamy Peanut Butter 1 kg, UPC: 0 51500 45736 8
• Light Creamy Peanut Butter 500 g, UPC: 0 51500 70037 2
• Light Creamy Peanut Butter 1 kg, UPC: 0 51500 70038 9
• Creamy Peanut Butter 500 g, UPC: 0 51500 75002 5
• Creamy Peanut Butter 1 kg, UPC: 0 51500 75005 6
• Crunchy Peanut Butter 500 g, UPC: 0 51500 75004 9
• Crunchy Peanut Butter 1 kg, UPC: 0 51500 75006 3
Food contaminated with Salmonella can cause symptoms like fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. For people with weakened immune systems, Salmonella can even cause deadly infections.
Currently, no illnesses have been reported due to the products in Canada.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is investigating the contamination, which may lead to the recall of other products.
CFIA said that the recalled products have been sold nationally and online.
