“You have no idea how many decisions we make every day to be able to be where we are today,” Dubé said.

Later, he added: “We have been very transparent, and we sometimes had to make decisions that go further than public health.”

He said divergences with public health have been very rare.

Restaurateurs are very angry, a reporter told Dubé.

“We understand that – I’m a business person,” he answered. “But I would like to thank them. Because of the tough decision they accepted months ago, we have saved lives.”

Dubé revealed that Quebec today will report 1,842 new cases. The province is scheduled to provide a full update on the situation at 11 a.m.
