The provincial government has signed an MOU with one of the largest commercial ports in the world in an attempt to develop supply chains for Newfoundland hydrogen.
Premier Andrew Furey and Energy Minister Andrew Parsons are part of a provincial delegation attending the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam this week.
Parsons says they’re already seeing interest in hydrogen opportunities.
The war in Ukraine and the climate crisis has created renewed interest in the development of hydrogen as a source of power. Parsons indicates that’s been proven in the attendance at this year’s summit.
Last year’s summit saw 4,000 people in attendance. Parsons says this year they were expecting 8,000, and saw 20,000.
