VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — After TELUS and Bell customers in B.C. and Alberta experienced issues making phone calls due to a wireless outage, TELUS now says service has been restored.
Hundreds of Twitter users expressed their frustration with the phone company — some are even calling for a reimbursement.
More than an hour later, TELUS says it was able to get services back, and apologized to customers.
“All wireless services are fully restored in B.C. and Alberta after some customers experienced intermittent issues for about an hour today. We know how critical connectivity is for our customers, and we sincerely apologize for the service interruption.” the company said in a statement.
Meantime Bell says it is still working to fix service.
“Mobility customers in Western Canada may be experiencing issues with their wireless services. Our teams are investigating the situation with our partners and working to ensure service is restored as soon as possible. We thank everyone for their patience,” Bell wrote in a statement.
Would be nice if we didn’t have to pay our full bill for partial usage

This is unacceptable. You will be reimbursing us on our next bill. 2 hours down (and counting) on the first day back to school. You are liable for those unable to call for emergency assistance!!!

TELUS responded to customers to apologize as its team worked on restoring service.
“We are currently investigating reports of a service disruption impacting wireless customers. We will post updates on this thread as we get them. Thanks for your patience!”

E-Comm has confirmed 911 calls are still getting through, “but if you don’t have service and need help, call 911 from a landline or cell w/different provider. Do not call to ask for updates on the TELUS outage/restoration.”
