Health Minister Paul Merriman pointed last week to an Angus Reid Institute survey that showed people were satisfied with the Saskatchewan Party government’s handling of the virus.
“Likely not the most appropriate response,” Premier Scott Moe told The Canadian Press in a recent year-end interview.
Most Canadians willing to get COVID-19 vaccine, but some worry about side effects
Hope arrived this week, packed in dry ice — the first precious doses of a vaccine against a pandemic that has become mentally exhausting.
Now, as Canada begins inoculating its high-risk health workers and elderly against a disease that is, once again, battering the country and lives, its official death toll approaching 14,000, more people appear willing to get vaccinated the minute they get the chance.
Still, there is some unease amid the joy.
Two establishments shut down by AHS just before lockdown
Even with a pending ban on in-restaurant service, AHS inspectors were keeping an eye on establishments breaking temporary pandemic regulations last week.
Over the weekend, inspectors shut down Portico Lounge, located at 3-1806 35 Street S.E. and Outlaws Taphouse and Bar, located at 110, 1830 52 Street S.E.
At Portico Lounge, the inspector noted patrons trying to exit through the back door, but receipts from the till showed sales of alcohol were made after 11 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11. Rules at that time said restaurants had to be closed by 11 p.m.
