Calgary tattoo shop ordered to close for breaking COVID-19 restrictions - CBC.ca

A Calgary tattoo shop has been ordered to close for breaking COVID-19 restrictions.

An Alberta Health Services inspector said in the closure order that New Dimension Tattoos, located at 808 Edmonton Trail N.E., was open and taking appointments for consultations and tattoo services — an activity that the officer wrote could spread COVID-19.

Tattoo shops and other personal services in Alberta were ordered closed on Dec. 13, in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. The closures are expected to last until at least Jan. 12.

The order states that staff at the reception desk did not put on a mask when speaking to the health inspector from less than two metres away, and that there was no physical barrier at the reception desk.

It said the verbal closure order was issued to a receptionist on Thursday — who refused to provide her name.

In a Facebook post, the tattoo shop said it will respond later on Saturday to the "unlawful accusations" made by AHS.
