COVID-19 update: Quebec records 1,097 new cases, 14 new deaths - Montreal Gazette

The province on Saturday recorded 1,097 new cases of COVID-19, according to numbers provide by Quebec’s public health department.

There were 14 new COVID-19 deaths in that same 24-hour period.

It was the third consecutive day the province recorded more than 1,000 cases in one day, and the eighth time in nine days.

Since the pandemic began, 85,191 cases have been recorded. There have been 20,947 in the last month.

The number of people who have died of COVD-19 in Quebec stands at 5,950.

Hospitalizations due to the coronavirus hit 444 on Saturday, an increase of 11.

Of those, 73 people were in intensive care, an increase of six.

The province conducted 28,773 tests on Oct. 8 for a cumulative total of 2,613,424 since the beginning of the pandemic.
