Worker at 7-Eleven in Shawnessy tests positive for COVID-19 - CBC.ca

An employee at a 7-Eleven in southwest Calgary has tested positive for COVID-19.

Any customers who visited the store, located at 615 Shawcliffe Gate S.W., can visit Alberta Health Service's website for information about COVID-19 symptoms or to take an online self-assessment test, the company said in an emailed release on Saturday.

The store's staff are self-isolating, with pay, for 14 days.

That location has been closed for cleaning, and 7-Eleven Canada said it plans to reopen on May 9.

The store is the third 7-Eleven store in the city where a worker has tested positive, the other two being a store downtown at 435 Fourth Avenue S.W., which was closed in late March and later reopened, and a store in Bridlewood at 2335 162nd Avenue S.W., which closed in mid-April and has since reopened, but a post office inside remains closed.

The company said it's taken steps to keep employees and customers safe at its 636 stores across Canada.

"We have enhanced our standards and procedures for hygiene, handwashing, sanitation, food handling and preparation in stores, and increased the frequency of cleaning high-touch surfaces," the company said.

"We have installed sneeze guards at sales counters and visual floor markers in checkout lines that reinforce social distancing, as well as limit customer traffic in stores."
