A 5-year-old boy in Michigan tried to satisfy his fast-food craving by dialing the only number he could on a deactivated cellphone: 911.
When the dispatcher answered Iziah Hall's call early last Sunday morning, local station WZZM-TV reported, he explained his emergency.
"Can you bring me McDonald's?" he asked.
Dispatcher Sara Kuberski said she couldn't, but contacted police officer Dan Patterson.
"I was laughing to myself ... 5-year-old calls dispatch and orders McDonald's," Patterson told WZZM.
The officer drove to Iziah's home in the city of Wyoming for a welfare check, deciding to stop at a McDonald's along the way to order food for the boy.

No one answered when Patterson knocked on the front door, so he knocked on a window and found Iziah.
"I think the first thing he said to me was, 'My grandma's gonna be so mad, can you please go away?' Patterson told WZZM.
Patterson waited until Iziah's grandmother, who was asleep when the boy called, answered the door. The officer then taught the boy when calls to 911 should be made.
Iziah was able to contact 911 by connecting the deactivated cellphone to the internet, the station reported, much to his grandmother's surprise.
"We get a lot of people who are letting their kids play on their cellphones and a lot of them are deactivated and parents don't realize they can still call 911," Kuberski told WZZM.
To avoid accidental 911 calls on old phones, the Federal Communications Commission recommends checking whether the 911 feature can be turned off via device settings.
Iziah told WZZM he thought the incident was funny, but his grandmother said he understands what qualifies as an emergency now.
Other unusual 911 calls made in recent years, including an Indiana child asking a dispatcher for help with math homework. After watching videos about the Grinch stealing Christmas, a 5-year-old in Mississippi dialed 911 to report his concerns.
