UPDATE #2:
A power outage in the neighbourhood of Northern Avenue and Sackville Road has been fixed, according to PUC.
Power was restored at approximately 4:15 p.m.
The cause of the interruption has yet to be determined.
UPDATE #1:
Power is back on in the west end, but PUC is now investigating a second outage on Northern Avenue impacting close to 200 customers.
The interruption was reported at approximately 2:38 p.m. in the area surrounding Northern Avenue and Sackville Road. Line crews are investigating.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Nearly 600 customers were without power this afternoon after an unplanned outage hit the Sault's west end and Prince Township.
The Sault Ste. Marie PUC said the outage hit at around 12:45 p.m.
Line crews were investigating the cause of the interruption in service, which affected about 590 customers, according to a post on the PUC's website.
The PUC reminded customers:
- Downed wires should always be considered energized or "live", and extremely dangerous
- Do not approach or drive over a downed power line and do not touch anything the power line may be in contact with
