COVID-19: More than half of eligible British Columbians fully vaccinated - News 1130

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – B.C. has now passed the halfway mark in the number of eligible people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

On Monday, the province reported 53.2 per cent of British Columbians aged 12 and up have received their second dose. Just under 80 per cent have received at least one dose.

Over the weekend, the province recorded 156 new cases, including 56 on Saturday, 60 on Sunday, and 40 on Monday.

Fraser Health recorded the most new cases over the weekend with 63. However, Vancouver Coastal Health has the most active cases with 246.

Province-wide, there are 653 active cases, which is relatively unchanged compared to Friday.

However, hospitalizations have fallen from 60 to 49. There are 12 COVID patients in the ICU, unchanged from Friday.

The province recorded two deaths over the weekend, one in Fraser Health and another in Vancouver Coastal Health. That brings the total to 1,763 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began.

There are two active outbreaks in Fraser Health, one at Laurel Place acute care at Surrey Memorial Hospital and another at Holyrood Manor long-term care.

Since December 2020, the province has administered 6,173,328 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
