More details are expected in the coming days, as the Nova Scotia Government looks to pilot a workplace COVID-19 testing program with employers across the province.
Recently, the province announced voluntary testing would begin at Halifax Stanfield International Airport by providing COVID-19 test kits to travellers.
During Friday's COVID-19 briefing, Dr. Robert Strang said his team is working on other ways to expand testing.
"We've also been working with employers and the federal government to pilot a workplace testing program across the province," said the chief medical officer of health. "Almost 50 employers, as well as the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, have signed on."
Strang says these employers will get free rapid, point of care tests as well as training and support to help them set up testing programs in their workplaces.
According to Strang, onsite testing in workplaces will help keep employees safe by quickly identifying cases while also supporting quicker economic recoveries.
