Newfoundland and Labrador’s unemployment rate dropped last month from July.
Statistics Canada says the rate was 13.1 per cent in August, down from 15.6 per cent the month previous.
In the St. John’s area, the rate stands at 10.5 per cent, down from 11.7 at the beginning of summer.
Nationally, the economy added 246,000 jobs in August as the pace of job gains slowed compared with July, when 419,000 jobs were added.
Still, Canada’s unemployment rate fell to 10.2 per cent in August compared with 10.9 per cent in July.
